    U.S. Backs Bid To Reclaim Marawi As 13 Philippine Marines Killed In Fighting

    The U.S. is now giving "technical assistance" to the country's military, according to a Philippine spokesman. The news comes amid heavy fighting to take back the city from ISIS-linked militants.

    An airstrike rips through a suspected militant hideout in Marawi on Friday. The U.S. is now providing "technical assistance" in the fight to retake the city, according to a Philippine military spokesman.

    The Philippine military suffered its worst day yet in from ISIS-linked militants, losing 13 marines during heavy door-to-door fighting on Friday. Yet the casualties — which bring the number of military deaths there to 58 — mark just a "temporary setback," a Philippine military spokesman said.
