My Art, My World
Born Brisbane Queensland in 1968, Nickolas Von Gentry grew up in the Bundaberg region of Queensland on a sugar cane farm. From an early age he was given a large box of crayons and, drawing on whatever he could find, including the walls, Gentry started to discover his passion for art. In his teenage years his parents brought him back to Brisbane where he attended school. In his mid-30s he moved to the small township of Beenleigh, located halfway between Brisbane the Gold Coast.
In 2014 he celebrated 26 years as a professional artist, creating everything from portraits to menu boards.
With a keen interest in poetry, psychology, anthropology, architecture , archaeology and making moving pictures as well as writing, Gentry explores his art - not wanting to just create artwork, he likes to study his subject and capture the elicit and animating force that resides behind the density and delicacy of the human form and structure.
