ll photographers can, at times, be guilty of jumping from one project to the next, without reflecting on their creative progress. That’s why designer and photographer Edward Heffer decided to recreate the same challenge the team once set him for a Shootout: portrait photography using only natural light, plus reflectors. (See Shootout in 170.) Edward was a keen amateur when he joined our portrait Shootout in 2015: “I saw it as a chance to meet the pros, gain some skills and work with a model for the first time,” he says. “Talking to the models and gaining this experience gave me the confidence to develop my work.”
