USGS: California's Next Big Hazard Could Be a Volcano

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has warned that California's next big hazard could come in the form of a volcanic eruption—not a massive earthquake, landslide or wildfire, which the state is often known for.
In a report released Monday, the USGS said that at least 10 volcanic eruptions have taken place in the past 1,000 years and that "future volcanic eruptions are inevitable."
