O f all serious criminal offences, only murder is fetishised so eagerly in western culture. One cannot envisage a T.V. series entitled Drug Trafficking, She Wrote, or a movie called , becoming standard Sunday night fare. So it’s no wonder that every single assassin in silver-screen history — in the realms of fictional realism, at least (sorry, Corvo Attano, Thane Krios, et al) — has been beguilingly cool.
