THIS amazing Impala is not only a vivid snapshot of automobile art and design, but its story is one which twists and turns and makes for great reading. It goes way out on a couple of tangents as it snakes through the annals of time, so bear with me.

The ‘59’s story and journey to NZ unfolded peculiarly and began in 2016 when I spent a full day in Los Angeles with Steve Curle, proprietor of Kiwi Shipping. Steve is a very busy man, and he neatly merged my day visit with his many phone calls. We squeezed in a visit to the Nethercutt Museum, the Galpin Ford museum plus a look at his own private collection. The Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar is a must-see if you’re in LA, but it was at the Galpin Ford complex in Van Nuys which is the largest selling Ford dealer in the world where I was literally stunned at Steve’s
