Although not subscribing to any particular “style,” the distinctive and playful work of Melbourne-based (but Tasmanian at heart) Austin Maynard Architects (AMA) comes from a consistent approach to thinking about design. The resulting architecture – predominantly new houses and alterations and additions to date – is clearly driven by ideas. Unorthodox concepts are fully explored in order to create something unexpected, steadily grounded in a response to brief, site and context.
