CHRIS’ TIP: CHECK YOUR BACKGROUND

We’ve all done it – been so busy concentrating on our subject that we didn’t notice a pole awkwardly protruding from behind their head, or simply that the background was busy and distracting. One step to the side can sometimes make all the difference, giving you a clean, contrasting-coloured background against which your subject really stands out. Compared to changing settings and so on, simply ensuring you have a nice background will do far more to improve a photo - and it’s so quick and easy! If you don’t check though, you won’t see it until it’s too late.
