MICROCONTROLLERS IN AMATEUR RADIO

his month we start with a project from Luc Decroos, ON7DQ. Two of Luc’s other projects were featured in my March 2019 column. Luc’s new project is the a small external 6-button controller for the Elecraft KX3 to send any of six CW or Data stored messages or two recorded SSB messages. This is an easy-to-build Arduino project with minimal parts but a lot of useful features. First, it lets you send the messages by simply pressing one button for each message instead of>. If you are willing to tinker with the sketch code, this project could also be used with the Elecraft KX2 or even the K3. It also has the potential to be used to send other commands to the radio, including macros.
