VINTAGE PICARD

“THE BIG GOODBYE”

The Next Generation takes a while to find its groove, but there’s fun to be had early on in the holodeck episodes. Here we discover that Picard is a big fan of fictional detective Dixon Hill, and enjoys dressing up in 1940s garb to play out his fantasies. As well he might. After all, if we had a holodeck, we might use it to play at being Captain Picard. Anyway, the best moment is when Jean-Luc – still dressed as Dix – has to deliver a speech, in a bizarre alien language, to a bunch of hard-to-please dignitaries: “Aaaaaaaard klaxon leeeessss blag blan ar’nik…”
