Its racism-fuelled tale of magical creatures trying to fit into a human world riffs on everything from to to Netflix flop t. Its gothic, Victoriannoir feel is pure . The endless swearing and copious copulating? . And that’s just the screen comparisons: don’t get us started on its many similarities to thousands of works of fantasy literature.
