Can’t stop sneezing and eyes constantly watering? Around 31% of adults in the UK suffer from hay fever every year. ‘Symptoms are caused by an over-reaction to pollen,’ explains airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg.

‘Everyone can tolerate a certain amount,’ he adds, ‘but, once this is exceeded (known as your “trigger” level), an allergic reaction will occur, causing the debilitating symptoms.’

Avoiding pollen isn’t always easy. ‘If you have an allergy to dairy, you avoid dairy,’ says Max. ‘It’s the same with pollen – though it’s somewhat more difficult to avoid microscopic particles you can’t even see.’
