FOOTING THE BILL

There are 26 bones in the foot and a web on muscles, tendons and ligaments.

The foot is divided into three sections: the forefoot, midfoot and rear foot. There are many evolving theories of the best and the most effective gait pattern when running.

As far as the job of the foot when walking…the rear foot should absorb the initial shock and control the foot in relation to the leg, the mid foot is supported by the arch structure and distributes most weight to the outside of the foot and the forefoot is used to push off the ground and move you forward.
