NAVIGATING in Nirvana
Beneath the sea is a parallel universe. Silent, except for the slow, rhythmic sound of my breathing. More extraordinary colours placed together than I could ever imagine on earth, with a sensation of weightlessness and perfect balance as my buoyancy becomes just right.
I swim into vast shoals of vivid yellow-backed fusiliers, past huge Gorgonian fans, to spot a nudibranch on the seemingly infinite wall, where a lionfish hovers. A hawksbill turtle glides below me. Out in the big blue, I notice a solitary starry toadfish.
Untamed beauty in the Indian Ocean around Madagascar has me mesmerised.
