Follow a Workflow
You have returned from a photography trip with hundreds of images captured by spending a great amount of money, time and effort. What next? You will probably copy the images from memory cards into your computer, take a backup or two, cull out the useless images, select images for post-processing, and so on. And post-processing itself involves so many steps from tagging to the final export of an image for printing or electronic display. It is quite possible that you might miss a step or two as there are so many of them. While some of these are not critical, what if you format a memory card thinking you have copied it when you really had not? That would be catastrophic and believe it or not, such unfortunate things do happen. Human errors, in fact, are more common than hardware failures though we fret about the latter a lot more.
How to avoid such lapses? Is there a process that we can develop and use to make sure that no step is missed out? Indeed, there is a way, with the help of what is called a workflow and its companion, a checklist.
