Sans Souci – no worries!
Driven by a lack of funds, a need for a home to bring up a family with a steady income, environmental concerns and a dose of philosophical optimism, we created our business plan on an A4 sheet of paper. The lack of funds had to be overcome by sheer hard yakka, choice of materials and thinking outside of the square. Earth buildings, composting toilets, grass roofs, communal rooms, simple meals in good company, and a supportive community in a natural environment seemed to tick all the boxes.
INN GOOD COMPANY
The philosophy behind Sans Souci Inn (French for ‘no worries’) was born. It can best be described by a quote from the book : ‘A man who stays the night in a strange place is still a member of the human community and still needs company. There is no reason why he should creep into a hole and watch
