The solution is soil building

Nothing builds topsoil better than grazing animals in a regenerative grass system, not even forestry. Better, deeper soils are more productive. It’s like having more effective hectares without buying them.

With widespread adoption of soil-building pastoral management, New Zealand agriculture can go from losing 200 million tonnes of soil per year to sequestering enough carbon in the soil to offset the all the methane from livestock and possibly the whole country’s greenhouse gas emissions. This would be a much better story for the environment than that of fake meat which uses soil-destroying (and possibly also genetically engineered) maize and soy as ingredients.
