Deep in the heart of Texas

I’ve always had a rather clichéd impression of Texas – all dust and desert, spurs and sheriffs, hamburgers and “howdy partners”. But those stereotypical wild west vibes were put aside on my tour of the Lone Star State; instead I discovered a rich cultural history, lush, vibrant landscapes, and a cocktail and culinary scene that nearly had me requiring two seats for the flight home.

This indulgence was certainly one of the many unexpected upsides of the Texan experience and I’m proud to say I embraced my inner glutton on a whole new level, feasting on Austin’s hot, velvety brisket, San Antonio’s Instagrammable tequila croissants and making the most of Houston’s hidden tiki bars and tacos.

With an explosion of culture and cuisine found on almost every corner, there’s no denying Texas is experiencing a true renaissance. So instead of exploring LA or New York, do yourself a favour and head down
