Robert (Bob) Gallagher OAM

It came as a very pleasant and unexpected surprise when we here at AMRM were made aware that our long-serving General Manager, Bob Gallagher, had been awarded a well-deserved Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), announced in The Queen’s Birthday 2019 Honours List on the June long weekend.

Bob has a very long history in the hobby, starting with the almost-clichéd childhood Hornby O gauge clockwork set. His journey to an OAM really started when, during his apprenticeship as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic in the late 1950s, he met Max Burke, who was even then kitbashing NSWGR-type rolling stock.
