THE MACNAB – TO BE OR TABOO?

I must point out that the format of the Macnab has changed considerably since its first introduction to South Africa. As many may know, the so-called Macnab derived from a novel written by John Buchan in 1925 about a Scottish poacher, John Macnab. It is often said that the novel is “a required read for any sportsman worth his powder”. Today the Macnab is quite a popular sporting challenge worldwide and has inspired many a hunter to try it at least once. In 2019, the shotgun and rifle manufacturer Blaser, sponsored the Field Macnab Challenge in Scotland.
