A mother’s dilemma

Carrying our newborn through the front door, I’d never held something so precious.

Sophia, just 2 days old, was perfect.

It was January 2016 and me and my husband Samuel, then 30, were euphoric.

Only, an hour later, Sophia’s skin was icy cold, grey and mottled.

She wouldn’t feed either.

When Samuel went to change her, he called out to me in a panic.

My blood ran cold.

Our girl had gone floppy.

Dialling 999, I was shaking uncontrollably.
