As I may have self-indulgently mentioned, in lockdown I have managed a consistency of training that I’ve been missing for years. The result has been that, as the pandemic ravages the UK, I’m getting fitter. I do, at least, have the grace to feel guilty about this. But it is making the strain of events marginally easier to take.
