Gourmet dogs

hether you’re a Colorado native, transplant, or tourist, there’s no doubt you’ve heard of. You know the humble backstory of Biker Jim and his hot dog cart on 16th Street Mall, the blossoming of his venture into a brick-and-mortar location on Larimer Street, and if you’re lucky, you’ve tasted one of his gourmet dogs—from ostrich to rattlesnake to wild boar—loaded up with all the fixings. Don’t just take our word for it though; we’ll let the many accolades from The Food Channel, USA Today, and the late Anthony Bourdain do the talking while we grab another dog and some Coca-Cola-caramelized onions to top it off. “The customers, my crew, and myself, we’re all on the same team,” says owner Jim Pittenger. “We’re all here for the same reason. You want to eat good food, and we want to bring you good food. It’s an ‘everybody wins’ situation.”
