All people deserve respect
No doubt your readers have seen in the national press that Martin Parr has quit as artistic director of the Bristol Photo Festival, which is run in conjunction with the University of the West of England (UWE). This was because he wrote a foreword to the 2017 edition of the book
by Gian Butterini, which was first published in 1969. In that book was an image of a black woman opposite a page with a gorilla in a cage. I have seen this image, and it is absolutely dreadful.
