Actor-director – and experimental prog fan – Catz’s new documentary is an imaginative approach to musician, mathematician and Radiophonic Workshop visionary Delia Derbyshire, the creator of the greatest piece of avant-garde music ever heard by families at teatime on a Saturday night: the Doctor Who theme tune.

Delia Derbyshire: The Myths And The Legendary Tapes is finally completed. How does that feel?

I’m so relieved [laughs]. It’s overwhelming to go back through the process. When I last spoke to in 2019 I’d done some interviews, we’d got our commission] and I was about to start filming. I’d been working on the music with Cosey [Fanni Tutti] for about a year before that, so it’s been a long time coming.
