Junk offender: Macrium Reflect Free

I’m disappointed to report that another of my favourite free tools – backup software Macrium Reflect Free – seems to have jumped on the junkwagon.

Head to and click the Home Use button. You’ll then see a confusingly worded screen that presents you with three steps (‘1 Enter Email, 2 Add Details, 3 Check Email’), with a box underneath for you to enter your email address. But it’s very easy to miss the fact that it’s optional to provide your email at this point – you can click Continue without entering anything in the box.
