Cape Cutter 19

I read with interest the recent article by Peter Poland about modern gaffers and the advantages of the gaff rig design were well described.

However, I was disappointed by the omission of the popular UK-built modern gaff, the Cape Cutter 19. It has been in production in the UK for almost 20 years and over 130 examples have been built. It is easy to trail with a family car and is good value for money with excellent internal layout and accommodation suitable for a family of four. (I attach an illustrative photo of Ladybird at a recent rally in the Kyles of Bute).

The Cape Cutter 19 is found worldwide and there is an active class association with an annual UK rally, an informative forum and a lively Facebook group.

If any readers are interested in modern gaffers, I’d encourage them to consider the Cape Cutter 19 and contact our class association or the builder, Cape Cutter Marine, for more information.
