What next for Ben?
Since being beaten in the Prada Cup finals in Auckland, Sir Ben Ainslie has quietly stated that his long-term aim remains – to bring the Auld Mug ‘home’, to lead the first British team to win the America’s Cup since the famous race around the Isle of Wight in 1851.
To take part, of course, requires money. So the next question on everyone’s lips is ‘will Sir Jim Ratcliffe invest again?’.
Ratcliffe is the man behind INEOS, which took over sponsorship of the British campaign suddenly in 2018.
INEOS’ entry meant the exit of Jaguar Land Rover, which had sponsored Ainslie’s BAR outfit at the last America’s Cup, in 2017 in Bermuda.
