About this audiobook

Now in paperback from superstar Shania Twain, a poignant, heartfelt, and beautifully told account of her hard-scrabble childhood, rise to worldwide fame, and recent personal tragedies.

The world may know Shania Twain as many things: a music legend, a mother, and recently, a fixture in the news for her painful, public divorce and subsequent marriage to a cherished friend. But in this extraordinary autobiography, Shania reveals that she is so much more. She is Eilleen Twain, one of five children born into poverty in rural Canada, where her family often didn’t have enough food to send her to school with lunch. She’s the teenage girl who helped her mother and young siblings escape to a battered woman’s shelter to put an end to the domestic violence in her family home. And she’s the courageous twenty-two-year-old who sacrificed to keep her younger siblings together after her parents were tragically killed in a car accident.

Shania Twain’s life has evolved from a series of pivotal moments, and in unflinching, heartbreaking prose, Shania spares no details as she takes us through the events that have made her who she is. She recounts her difficult childhood, her parents’ sudden death and its painful aftermath, her dramatic rise to stardom, her devastating betrayal by a trusted friend, and her joyful marriage to the love of her life. From these moments, she offers profound, moving insights into families, personal tragedies, making sense of one’s life, and the process of healing. Shania Twain is a singular, remarkable woman who has faced enormous odds and downfalls, and her extraordinary story will provide wisdom, inspiration, and hope for almost anyone.

Excellent. Eye opening to Shania’s childhood and backstory before she was known around the world. She did a great job with this and should be extremely proud.

I had a double betrayal like shania did with my ex husband and a former friend whom he married. I was hesitant to re-visit the pain- but it made me realize many things -and I’m trying to move on. Shanias story make me try to completely separate my life from theirs and realize no matter what they do (sued me- lie to my kids daily)- it’s their problem- not mine. All I can do is try to control my reactions. Shania went through this and expresses herself so well- the raw emotions She wrote about and many of her challenges and how she overcame them is inspiring. This book is insightful- humble- helpful- caring and kind. This story made me feel like I wasn’t alone in my suffering and to try to look at things from a more positive perspective. A great read of her life that goes far beyond her marriage issues - her childhood and her rise to fame. Highly recommend it.

This Canadian girl was born into a poor family in the northern Ontario town of Timmins. She had a difficult childhood in which violence was common and enough food to eat was rare. In spite of it, she became the world's best-selling country singer. She describes a lot of what goes on behind the scenes and shares her desperate grief when her parents died when she was 21 and then when her marriage ended 21 years later. While I'm not a big country fan, I found Shania's story very interesting and I even listened to a few of the songs she mentioned in the book. I did find one mistake: on page 202, she talks about hunting "Ontario forest foul" instead of fowl. She also says 3 or 4 times that she has been a vegetarian for 18 years; once would probably have been enough. I don't mean to be picky though; it was a pretty good book.In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that there is some pretty crude language and bad situations in this book that some may find offensive.

Shania Twain's life story shares her experiences with much detail (and sometimes much wordiness), but as I read the book, I could sense a disconnect between what she said and what she experienced, a detachment that keeps readers from feeling like they get to know Twain because they are kept at arms length rather than enfolded in her story.

I’m a huge fan of Shania Twain and her music. Over the summer I watched a reality show on the O channel chronicling her life and inspirational story, and I had a new found respect for her as a person not just a singer. From This Moment On is Shania’s story in her own words, and though sometimes she randomly goes off course she is honest in telling us her childhood and heartbreak over her husband’s infidelity and best friends betrayal. If you don’t know her husband had an affair with her best friend, and I believe they are still together now. She is now happily married to her best friend’s ex-husband. It’s slightly Jerry Springer, but this is how the cards laid out for her and she rolled with the punches. I was amazed at how much she has been through. She had a rough childhood, and then took responsibility for her sister and brothers after her parents were killed in a car accident. She also talks about her singing career, and the process her and Mutt had in making her hugely commercial hit album Come On Over. From This Moment On is a really great honest memoir. If you are a fan of Shania Twain or just a fan of somebody making it through all odds, you will enjoy this book.

Shania has always been a favorite of mine. When i heard she could nolonger sing due to personal trama I felt sad for her her fans her family and most of all her.Allthough I do not know her personally I feel as though I do after reading her heart rentching story of love gone wrong. Her husbands infidelity with her closest friend left her broken and unable to do what what she loved most to do that also earned her a living to sing.Shania or Eileen Twain has become one of country artisit biggest stars breaking record after record in a man domminated work world.Shania pathed the way for many more female artist in the up comming country genre.I cryed so hard when I read this book I could hardly breathe I felt her pain It was a path we could all relate to one way or another.I read the book in record time and have went back over highlited parts of the book that taught me something about my self .Yes this was her tragerty but it taught me alot about my self and others. This book is raw truthful a little to truthful it is endering ,teaching and feeling kind of book that puts it all out there.I found Shania to be brave to write such truth but I know as she must have she will heal others through her journey.Koodo's for Shania .Fear, truth, endurance, and above all she rose above it all and healed her self.
