About this audiobook
Before you plan your wedding, plan your marriage! Wish you could know what you're getting into when you say "I do"? Now, with Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married, you can. Dr. Gary Chapman, #1 New York Times best-selling author of The 5 Love Languages™, has spent the last thirty-five years counseling couples. In Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married, he shares what he and these couples have learned from experience. Among the twelve things you should know: that being in love is not enough to make a successful marriage, that romantic love has two stages (and how to make the transition), that mutual sexual fulfillment is not automatic, and that personality profoundly affects behavior. The stakes on marriage are high, but the rewards of preparing are even higher. Whether you're single or dating, this audio can be your relationship blueprint and help you decide if and when you're ready to tie the knot. If you're engaged, even recently married, it will help you examine your relationship foundation and learn the skills necessary for building a successful marriage. Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married was written to help you realize your goal of marital happiness. But don't just listen to it-experience it. Grapple with the practical tips and ideas discussed, honestly share your thoughts and feelings, respect each other's opinions, and find workable solutions to your differences. The more you do so, says Chapman, the more you will be prepared for marriage.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Practical and fulfills the purpose that Chapman claims is the purpose for why he wrote the book. May seem like common sense but serves as a great reminder and gives an explicit example that the “common sense” things going into marriage, are not just sayings but a reality. Enjoy this text and I recommend to engaged couples and couples who are in the “serious dating” phase.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5well, it does talk of some good points of discussion like religion, many personality traits, etc etc. It does speak of the idea of reaching an agreement, if you ever want to deep into this topic, you could read "The Third Alternative" by Stephen R. Covey.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I think every single, dating, engaged and even married person should read this. It prompts you to examine yourself and all your expectations (and have a discussion about them with your partner) before making such a big commitment. Basically it’s all about communication and telling each other exactly what you expect so that you can agree or negotiate ready for the future. Glad I read this.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very informative and practical. I learnt a lot and will definitely use this as a guideline.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book provides not only the whys but also the hows that flow from the life experiences that have been processed and redeemed by God's love. Chapter by chapter we can see great suggestions for ideal conditions. Yet, we can easily learn and apply the clear value to our context and unideal situation. Problems and the unideal situations are normal.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Planning to get married or even to get into a relationship is not something you just leave to chance, hoping that it would work out… it’s a serious matter and this book sets the table for interesting conversations, gets you thinking whether you are ready to take the leap or not…
Strongly recommend it! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’d highly recommend this book for anyone in a relationship. The earlier topics raised in this book are discussed, the better, to avoid the hurt and pain that accompanies an unsuccessful marriage. Enlightening, thought- provoking and workable.
