About this audiobook

Called on a dangerous assignment, leopard shifter Conner Vega returns to the Panama rain forest of his homeland, looking every bit the civilized male. But as a member of the most lethal of the shifter tribes, he doesn’t have a civilized bone in his body. He carries the scent of a wild animal in its prime, he bears the soul-crushing sins of past kills and he’s branded with the scars of shame inflicted by the woman he betrayed.

Isabeau Chandler is a Borneo shifter who’s never forgiven Conner—or forgotten him. The mating urge is still with her, and when she crosses Conner’s path, passions burn like wildfire. But as Conner’s mission draws Isabeau closer, another betrayal lies waiting in the shadows—and it’s the most perilous and intimate one of all.

I loved this book. I love the way she created all of the stress in the relationship before the book starts so you get to read about them working through it without the constant bickering and stress. I loved the H&H and the background plot. It was very romantic & steamy!

Great book, with lots of action and dangerous game, that does take a different course of action. Love that, both couples despite all the affliction that was caused and brought on by their fellow leopard species. In his lust for another male’s mate in heat. Long after they found out that Isabeau Chandler is a female leopard and that she is coming into her first heat and the emerging of the female leopard. Ottila Zorba set out to claim Isabeau Chandler from her mate who is Conner Vega. Again, developing the bad need for vengeance and trying to claim another’s mate or in the need of what is not his own. They were able to see past the pain and confusion that the other leopard tries to destroy their love and mating while focusing on what matters most to them. Which ends up being their family and finding their baby brother.

Wild Fire is the fourth installment of the Leopard People series. I’m not going to go into the basic plot, you can get that information from the cover blurb, but what I will say is that I’m always impressed by how well Christine Feehan writes emotions, angst, regret, betrayal, guilt, sorrow, joy, passion, love. You name it and she carries you through the feelings it which is one of the things I find most appealing about her stories – the ability to connect on a personal level with the characters.

Another thing I love about Christine Feehan’s writing of the Leopard People series is how incredibly detailed she is about the differences between the cat and the human, each trying to live according to their own nature’s law and doing it while inhabiting the same body. There’s this odd need for cooperation between the two species. And the shifting process is given in such detail that I can easily visualize it, and almost feel it happening.

And as cheesy as this sounds while reading Wild Fire I had a light bulb over the head moment where the importance of being comfortable in your own body, of accepting yourself exactly as you are became even more important to me. All the self-help books, deep inner reflection, well-meaning friends, and psychology have never come closer to giving me the level of understanding that Conner and Isabeau did as he encouraged her not to be ashamed of who and what she is, but to embrace it and find all the good in it. Like I said, cheesy, I know, but hey… we should take life’s positive lessons where ever we can get them!

Anyway, this is yet another great addition to the series and I can’t wait to see whose book is next, but I'd be thrilled if it were Drake's story!

I remember reading Wild Rain years ago and really enjoying it. I decided to try and read more of the leopard series. Wild Fire is not too heavy on plot. Really there is a lot of emphasis on sex first, fighting second and plot third. I do find the world of the leopard people fascinating and love that this is set in the forests of Panama. I will keep on reading this series. It is light entertainment and good for when you need a break.

This is a good read. The book is not as interesting at the beginning and has several dry spots. I think the story was good, definitely a must for anyone who follows Christine Feehan’s works. I am more fond of the “Dark” and “Ghost Walker” series but I think this series and this book are worth the time.

If you like female characters who recover from betrayal easily and a brutal beating from a man who claims to love her, this is for you. It's not for me. There were parts of it that did work, that the romance built that the characters became almost people whose lives I was getting a peek at. However I don't like the overalpha male lead. And half-explaining a culture and expecting someone to keep to that culture without being in any way knowledgeable about the culture, is not my type of favoured story. Yes when you live in a culture you're unfamiliar with you stumble and sometimes cause offence, but if you behave in a fairly reasonable way you should be excused some things. And honestly, marking a guy to DEFEND yourself can end up with him being entitled to claim you as a mate? Seriously think about this for a second, you are setting up a culture where you are being punished for self-defence, how is that not broken? Answers on a postcard...Yes I get it, many people like Christine Feehan, I will not be revisiting this series, I don't find it romantic or interesting and I shouldn't keep annoying myself with this sort of writing.

I actually really liked this one. I know people complain that Christine Feehan is formulaic all her books are the same etc. etc. I don't think that's true, but I don't read enough of her books to really care even if it is true. This one will almost definitely be a re-read for me.

There are scenes in this book that are going to upset some people. Isabeau Chandler is beaten by one of the evil leopard men. He is one of the worst villains Ms. Feehan has written I think. There is one other that comes close and that is the obsessed idiot from Hidden Currents. There isn't any rape scenes in the story just the beating which was brutal. I understand the need for the scene and it really did make you want to make the man suffer. I think it also showed the reader that Conner Vega was definitely in control of his leopard. He was very compassionate and understanding with Isabeau afterwards. Only wanting to take care of her and make sure how badly she was injured. Conner is also very intelligent and far more caring than anyone has given him credit for to this point. He is also very dominant. I loved the spanking scene. I think he is going to be one of by favorite characters of the Leopard series.Isabeau is a botanist. Her love of plants and the healing properties are what brought her to the rain forest. She is very caring, compassionate and trusting, almost to a fault. She also doesn't know that she is a leopard until she and Conner meet up again. Of course she doesn't know that Conner is a leopard either. It was nice that she was so willing and eager for her leopard to emerge. She is also very open minded about pleasing Conner and his need to dominate in the bedroom. Isabeau is very brave and she is willing to learn what she needs to know to help Conner rescue the children that have been kidnapped as well as take a ruthless drug dealing woman. I admire Isabeau very much throughout the story.I was surprised that there was a good deal of D/s throughout this story. For that reason it is going to be one of my favorite of the series. As always Ms. Feehan as populate her story with wonderful characters that you want to know more about. I would really like to see Elijah's story soon. This is a character that fascinates me. It was very nice to see more about Rio. I am always glad when an author brings in characters from previous books. I enjoy learning what the past characters have been up to and how their lives are going. The villains in this story are nasty and loathsome in the extreme. This is a dark story than the previous Leopard books but it isn't as dark as the Carpathians or the Ghost Walkers. I definitely had a hard time putting the book down. I just kept trying to find out what was going to happen next. There are also some really hot sex scenes in this story. A big plus in my book.

I have been pleasantly surprised by Christine Feehan's Leopard series. Now that I have read each installment that has been published so far, I don't know what took me so long to jump on board! I love Feehan's other series': the Carpathian, Ghost Walkers, and Sea Haven series', and the novels about the leopard-people are every bit as good.Wild Fire is an exciting and interesting read. Despite being noticeably darker and with some difficult (and at times, down-right ugly) subject-matter, I fell in love with the main characters Conner and Isabeau. The chemistry between these two is explosive, and the emotional baggage they carry around around, heavy and desperate. I don't think either one could have made it much longer in life without the other one.As with Feehan's other series, I find myself longing for another story - guessing and anticipating the direction she will take, and wishing for stories about some of the other leopards we have met along the way in this series. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series just as soon as it becomes available. Christine Feehan's stories are guilty pleasures not to be missed!
