About this audiobook

Eric Jerome Dickey's boldly sensual novel centers on what his fans love best-steamy romance and shocking betrayal. This is an edge-of-your-seat novel about a good man who loves his wife, Genevieve, but finds himself drawn against his best intentions into an affair-with his wife's sister. Both women have a mysterious and tragic past that raises the stakes in this fast-paced novel. Genevieve hits all the crowd-pleasing notes that we have come to expect from a Dickey novel, delivered in a style that is sexy, raw, humorous, and thrilling all at once.

"Genevieve" recounts the experiences of Genevieve (but make sure you pronounce it the French way ...) and her attempts to escape her past. When a family event brings her back to her hometown, the perfect life she's tried to construct begins to crumble. This is complicated largely due to her sister Kenya, who is a stark contrast in nearly every way. This book is fairly consistent with most of EJD's books. It's well-written (technically speaking), has an interesting plot and the sexy encounters that have become his trademark. It definitely doesn't rank as one of my favorite EJD books, but you won't be wasting your time or money by checking this one out."Genevieve" is told in first-person, which I generally don't prefer. If you can get past that, you're in for a fairly interesting read. There's even a plot twist that I hadn't seen coming.

"Genevieve" starts OFF with a spicy hook that grabs you, the story just kinda goes, goes, goes until you realize that it's not going where you thought it would take you. Because we're teased to be interested in the husband's affair and the story is more about the wife. The plot and complexity of his characters appear to be mere accessories to the graphic sexual encounters he spends the bulk of his imaginitive writing on. It was at times boring because there was 2 character dialogue going on for quite some time. The dialog/conversations were hard to follow. It was hard to tell who was talking. I would have to sometimes re-read a paragraph. It was very slow to arrive for me and didn't pick up until the very end. EJD has adopted a new style full of poetic writing and scenery that just didn't capture my attention. There were quite few surprises as the plot unfolds regarding the things pleasant and not so pleasant in her life. I had to force myself to finish this one. I'm not going to hold this one against him, we all make mistakes. I'm eagerly waiting for his next book "Chasing Destiny" to be released, I hope it will be filled with the EJD style and passion that I have grown to love. "Genevieve" isn't the best novel that I've read by Dickey but it is entertaining. The commentary at the end of the book was interesting, to see him share part of his experiences while writting this novel.
