The Super Bowl. America's biggest sports spectacle. Over 95 million fans will be watching, but teen sports reporters Stevie and Susan Carol know that what they'll be watching is a lie. They know that the entire offensive line of the California Dreams have failed their doping tests. They know the owner is trying to cover up the results. The only thing they don't know is how to prove it.
John Feinstein has been praised as "the best writer of sports books in America today" (The Boston Globe), and he proves it again in this fast-paced novel.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Stevie and Susan Carol return for a 3rd book. They must save the Super Bowl from an owner of an expansion team who is trying to cover up a failed drug test.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I was frankly amazed that I liked this novel. I am not, by any means, a sports fan. This is an interesting story, however, and the two teenage protagonists are engaging and likeable characters. The setting--the SuperBowl--is one any reader can identify, and the behind-the-scenes view of the big event and the media circus which surrounds it is very interesting and believably written. My biggest criticism is that the characters, who are supposed to be savvy and mature journalism professionals beyond their years, are sometimes a bit too savvy-sounding to be entirely believeable.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book would've been the strongest of the series, if it hadn't fallen into the same plot device that Blue Balliett's Chasing Vermeer/The Wright 3/The Calder Game series had: the same people stumbling upon huge cover-ups. Even though I like this story more than the other two, it seems incredibly improbable that these kids would continue stumbling upon huge cover-ups that rock sports to it's very core. The writing's strong, the characters are well written, and the plot's pretty good. But I can't get over that gargantuan plot device to make a single book a trilogy.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is another great author to recommend to your sports kid- both boys and girls!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have to say that this was better than Last Shot for me. I thought it moved a lot faster. I loved the story about the big shot football player and his close friend the equipment manager. I was a little put off by the frequent references to Susan Carol's height and attractiveness though. Also, the older men putting the moves on her were a little much. I liked the focus on Stevie and how he had to deal with Susan Carol's fame while being sure to do get his work done. The mystery unfolded naturally and I felt like I could recreate the steps the duo took for background research on steroid testing. In light of what's happening with steroids in sports today, this was very timely!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a fun mystery/romance about two teens covering the Super Bowl for television.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A fast, action, mystery/adventure, with two 14 years olds trying to stop a cover up of hgh (steroids) on the dreams offensive line.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was the BEST book I have ever read. Being a huge football fan, I could not put this book down. Stevie and Susan Carol returned for their 3rd adventure. this time, they are invited to the Super Bowl. After being kicked out of a TV show, stevie joins CBS and The washington Post. In the middle of Super bowl week he finds out that one of the teams is covering up positive drug tests. Together he and Susan carol must find evidence and publish a story before time runs out.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Steve and Susan Carol are back for their third adventure. This time they are invited to cover the SuperBowl. After Steve is pushed out of the TV gig and replaced by a more camera friendly guy, he lands on his feet working for a print newspaper and CBS. The young reporters uncover doping by several professional athletes who failed drugged tests. Once again Feinstein has created a fun read peppered with real-life figures from the world of sports.
