Aphrodite's loyalty can swing a lot of different ways, but right now Zoey's fate hangs in the balance.

One of the most horribly written books I've ever read.
Even though plenty happens in this book, it felt like it didn't go anywhere fast. It was interesting what was going on, but without Zoe having as large a POV role as the earlier parts, it was missing something. Although there is obviously more to the story after this, at this stage I don't feel compelled to continue with the series.
This was the book that finally pushed me over the edge to stop reading this series. They just get worse and worse.
This installment felt much more complete, more educated, more adult... all except for one quote, "wrong like manboobie." Brought me right back to remember this is YA fiction in all it's teen angsty drama. Possibly my favorite book of the series right now.
Another good one, but when will this series ever be over?

The story line in the House of Night series is interesting. I like a lot of the folklore and some of the twists and turns... but wow, the badly-written dialogue and awkward responses of some of the characters really detract from the story (like Damian and Jack randomly hugging whenever one of them actually does something mildly helpful - I can't see people doing that).
I liked the Scottish element and how the Isle of Women was handled. I like a lot of the basic plotting, but it is REALLY hard to get past the dialogue. Teenagers do not talk like that. And too many characters have nothing to do (the Twins, for example).

These books are fine and all but has anyone else realized that there are going to be TWELVE of them in total?! After Burned you have Stolen, Burdened, Touched, Cloaked and Wanted. No wonder they are starting to tell the story from multiple perspectives. (Speculation is now at fifteen books).
Loving the U.K. cover by the way, disappointed its not Stevie Rae like the U.S. but it will look good on my shelf anyway.
Finally, time for me to actually review it. Okay, so this took me a while to read seeing as I have to study for the state exams the Irish government insist I take.
Well, I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would, I really did. I still hate Zoey, and speaking of hate, I despise Damien, Jack, and the Twins too.
But now for things I like, Stark for one, and pretty much anything to do with Stevie Rae and Rephaim, I hope that ends well.
This book still has the shameless pop culture references and I hate the really over the top "And I suddenly realised what I must say..." moments but all in all, its a good book.
Lets just hope Rephaim, Stevie Rae and Stark get their happy endings now.

So this book is definitely up to the same standard as the first books in this series but definitely not as bad as Tempted that was more like filler than an actual book and then after a horrible filler story it left off with a serious cliffhanger. Not the best book...but this one kicks it up a notch and I am happy to see everyone working hard to get to a resolution toward the end of the book. I do not like the continued creepy visions of this and that and the like teasing that the author is doing, I mean, I know that teasing is part of a good story but this is starting to get ridiculous.

This book was a bit different than the previous 6. The pace was a little less fast, however it still had the urgency. Zoey's spirit has been shattered by Heath's death, and she is trapped in the Other world until she can literally pull herself together. Unfortunately she only has a week to do it before her body will die and she will become something terrible. The council tries to decide what should be done about the whole situation, but once again Neferat manipulates the situation. Once she knows what has happened, she sends Kalona's spirit into the Other world after Zoey to prevent her from leaving. Stark, with Aphrodite's and Darius's help heads to the ancient island of Skye to seek the help of it's ancient queen. Stark undergoes a ritual to become a shaman and Zoey's guardian which will allow him to enter into the Other world after her. Once there, he must convince Heath to leave so that Zoey will come back and save the world! Meanwhile in Tulsa Stevie Rae picks up where Zoey left off with two guys (one the lead Raven Mocker who Killed Dragon's mate Rephaim). She invokes the two Bulls personifying Light and Darkness because of one of the (terrible) prophetic poems their new poet gives her. However Dallas finds out about her new crush(?) and chooses darkness, which changes him into the second red vampyre. Luckily for everyone Zoey pulls herself together and her and stark make it out of the Otherworld alive, but not before a showdown with Kalona that ends in Nyx making Kalona give Stark a piece of his immortality!

I don't like it.I am so disappointed.House of Night is one of my favorites.It made me sad that it went so downhill.
I just cant believe in this whole story what they only did is bring Zoey back from other world.That's it.The story didn't move an inch from the previous one.
And so many slang.I get it that people use slang when they are angry or pissed or in pressure.But in here they were using slang at every other line.They were using slang in deadly serious situations like discussing strategy to bring Zoey back.So many "F" words,it just made my head ache.
Not one of the characters had grown up even a little bit.They were just annoying.The whole story was told in spiritual and hypothetical way and I couldn't understand any of it.What stark did to get to Zoey in the other world is still a mystery to me.I mean with whom was he really fighting and why?I know they said it with himself.But I just don't get it.And all those personification of Light and Darkness through two bulls,I was having a hard time getting it.I mean Light is good and Darkness is bad,right?It's simple enough.I don't know why they made it sound so complex.And why the white bull is bad and the black one is good?It seems to me they just said it because Stevie Rae accidentally had to call the wrong one,no other reason.

I've always enjoyed the series but the past few books just lost my interest slightly, to the point that it was months before I finally read this one. Now I'm really glad I did as it was superb, I loved the new lore and information that has been added into it and given the series a whole new depth. It also helped me that there was a LOT less of Erik and lot's of Stark :D
The only down side was a spoiler for True Blood series 2. Pop culture references are great but preferably when they're vague enough not to spoil something for someone who hasn't seen that particular show.

I just finished reading Burned by P.C. And Kristin Cast. It is the seventh book in the House Of Night series by them. This book takes place in both Tulsa, Oklahoma and Italy. Zoey's soul is shattered after her childhood love is tragically killed. Her spirit is in pieces in the Otherworld. Her friends back on Earth are trying to save her life by finding away to get her soul back together so she can return to her body.This is my second time reading this book. Like the first time, I had to resist temptation not to jump over all the sad parts and get to the ending. I loved it as much as I did the first time. I also find that I skipped over some important details the first time as well. I love this series so much! I'm completely and totally addicted to it. I didn't really find anything wrong with this series. However, I do feel that maybe since the chapters are clearly defined as who's perspective it is they could all be in first person. However, it's still good the way it's written as well. Zoey is the only perspective written in first person. The others are written in third person. I fully recommend this book to anybody who loves dramatic and thrilling supernatural series. It's targeted at young adult audiences, but anybody who loves this kind of genre will love it. I fully encourage reading the books in order though. Reading them out of order will get you confused.
I really didn't like this book in the series, it is full of crab, though there was some good parts but they were filled with bad words! the book was so slow. the only part I liked that Stevie Rae and Rephaim might have a chance.
I think I liked that this story centered more around Stevie Rae then the Zoe, Stark, Heath, Erik and Kalona pentagon that has consumed the last couple of books. Granted to we still got to check in on everyone else but I was more thrilled to get everyone else's story.

Very good series can’t wait to read the rest and hear what happens to zoey and the rest of the group even though it was really sad that heath died.
2.5 stars****SPOILERS for previous book(s)****Zoey's soul has been shattered and she will die if she can't get it put back together. ****SPOILER end****I was just not very interested in this one. Mostly the book was told from the points of view of others (not Zoey). I'm not sure if that's why I disliked it, or if it was something else. Either way, this was book 7 and it seems there are now 17 books in the series. I think this is the last one for me. I gave it the extra ½ star because there were parts near the end that I found more interesting, but overall, I really didn't care all that much.
It was good to see some of the other characters get a chance to shine forward...
The first few books in this series were good. They were fun, easy reads and guilty-pleasure material. The last few books have been a chore to read, though. While the characters were not as annoying in this book (due to Zoey not really being present) the writing was irritating. I did not understand the reason for switching narrators every few pages. It added nothing to the story and broke it up too much. I have never been a fan of the Kalona plot which was particularly boring in this book. I really like Aphrodite as a character and I think it's a shame she's been pushed to the side and treated so badly by the other characters. I keep reading these books in hopes that they'll return to what they were at the start but I'm not sure how likely that is.

I think this was the slowest of the books in the series for me to get through. Maybe I was feeling distracted- and I also think that though I'm fond of writing from multiple perspectives, I might not enjoy reading from them as much. It was frustrating to watch Zoey struggle, to watch Stark struggle, to watch everyone barely keeping it together. I think that was what made it longer for me.

The House of Night Series follows a young girl (Zoey Redbird) and her friends as they work to find themselves and rid the world of an ancient threat brought to life by the high priestess of their school (Neferet). The series starts out with following Zoey as she enters the House of Night and struggles to fit in and make friends with the other fledglings. She soon learns that the goddess Nyx, goddess of vampyres, has a special place in her heart for Zoey and is determined to let everybody know it. Zoey is quickly becoming the most hated and loved freak in the school. With each brave task she accomplishes, like helping Aphrodite when she released evil onto the world, she earns a new tattoo, a sign of Nyx. Having become the youngest high priestess at the House of Night Zoey is faced with even more challenges. Nepheret the current high priestess isn’t happy the goddess favors Zoey over her. She has fallen to evil and will do whatever it takes to take Zoey out of the picture. Nepheret raises an evil that Zoey’s ancestors trapped away centuries ago. With the threat Nepheret and Kalona face on the world it’s up to Zoey and her friends to rid the world of Nepheret and possibly Kalona too.Burned is the seventh book in the House of Night Series. Rephaim has been left behind by his father Kalona, saved by Stevie Rae from the rogue red fledglings, and is now in a battle with his own heart and mind to find his true feelings about good and bad, while helping Stevie Rae with Zoey and Kalona. With all this happening at once this book takes you through exciting twists and turns as readers follow their favorite characters. So much has happened since Zoey Redbird entered the House of Night. This series has a lot of avid readers and followers. There is so much that happens, it will make readers feel happy, frustrated, mad, sad, and excited. The Casts have created various points of view so that readers have a better understanding of what’s happening with each character. Each characters struggles will bring readers closer to who they are and what they mean to each other and the rest of the world is exciting. This book is definitely a page turner. Young people will like this book because they can relate on a personal level to the feelings of the characters. They are high school students forced to look within them to find out who they truly are and what role they will play in life.
This book, lost my interest completely. This was not a very good book. I read other reviews on this book, and they also said it wasnt very good, but I wanted to give it a chance. It was so confusing. The chapters are in the eyes of each character, and they each have their own problems. Now zoey is in some world where shes dead, but shes not? I honestly think the authors got bored and started puting random stuff down on the page. I just wanted to skip right threw the whole book.
Don’t you just hate when you’re in the middle of a really good series and the fifth of six books turns out to be slow? I know I do. The first five House of Night books are great, but after the extremely captivating ending to book five a slow start in book six was disappointing. All of those who read Tempted the fifth book were craving answers to what happened next, but in Burned, the questions from Tempted weren’t answered until the end.The main character, Zoey Redbird, sees Kalona, her nemesis and soul mate, kill her consort, Heath, and her soul shatters. Her spirit travels to the other world and in order for her to return to earth she needs to find the pieces of her soul and put them back together. No other high priestess has ever recovered from her soul being shattered, so her friends are in complete dismay. “’Zoey’s not dead, but she saw Kalona kill Heath. She tried to stop him and couldn’t. It shattered her, Stevie Rae.’ Tears had started to leak down Lenobia’s porcelain cheeks” “’No, please. This can’t be right. This can’t be happening,’ Stevie Rae told him.” “She hadn’t been able to keep up with the rest of them, especially since she’d been crying so hard the snot and tears had kept her from doing much breathing or seeing.” Zoey’s friends all took in her emergency a different way, but they all reacted how real people act. The Cast’s characters are extremely well rounded and have the complexity of human beings. They are lifelike and have extremely developed personalities and traits. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of them walking down the streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The most interesting thing about Burned, to me, was the interpretation of what happened to the characters when they died. If you’ve ever read a book in which you, the reader, went with a character when they died then you understand what I mean. In every book I’ve ever read where the protagonist dies whatever happens to them after death is always different. Although the beginning was slow and hard to get into, Burned still ended up being a really good book with a creative plot. Burned is my least favorite book of the House of Night series so far, but it was still a fantastic book and I can’t wait to read the next book of the series.
Burned is the seventh installment in P.C. Cast's House of Night series. I absolutely loved this book. The characters, and the plot of the story, the fact that it is a continuation of the previous book and its conflict within the previous books. In this book, things have turned black at the House of Night. Zoey Redbird's soul has shattered. With everything she's ever stood for falling apart, and a broken heart making her want to stay in the Other-world forever, Zoey's fading fast. With the death of Heath by the hands of Kalona and her shattered soul, her friends are left to figure out how to save Zoey so they figure out together how to defeat Neferet. I love the plot in this book, the setting, the characters. I love everything about this book and series really. It is well-written I thought. Two thumbs up to P.C. and Kristin Cast. I highly recommend this book and the series.
The series had taken a bit of a dip and I feel like with this one it's starting to pick back up a little. The story overall seems to be losing some of it's magic but it isn't going down without a fight. Too much time is being spent on looking at every side of the story, yes characters are interesting and we want to see them but when it takes 3 books to tell the story of one I'd rather have the characters be a little more mysterious.
The House of Night Series has been one of my favorite series but I am starting to get a little bored. I liked reading the POV’s of everyone other than Zoey. One thing that irritated me was there was a lot of talking and the book would not progress. Stevie Rae used to be one of my favorite characters but her betrayal and lies are really getting on my nerves. If Stevie Rae had confided with Kramisha she wouldn’t irritate me so much. I truly believe that what happens to Dallas is Stevie Rae’s fault. Right now the only characters I care for are Stark and Aphrodite. I am really happy that Eric is now out of the picture. I guess in all, I think this book could have been a whole lot better for being a completely separate book.
