About this audiobook
An Irish Country Wedding is another heart-warming addition to New York Times bestselling author Patrick Taylor's Irish Country series.
Love is in the air in the colourful Ulster village of Ballybucklebo, where Dr. Fingal Flahertie O'Reilly has finally proposed to the darling of his youth, Kitty O'Hallorhan. There's a wedding to be planned, but before O'Reilly can make it to the altar, he and his young colleague, Barry Laverty, M.B., must deal with the usual round of eccentric patients—and crises both large and small.
Being a G.P. in a place like Ballybucklebo often means more than simply splinting broken bones and tending to aches and pains. It can also mean helping a struggling young couple acquire their first home, clearing the name of a cat accused of preying on a neighbor's prize pigeons, and encouraging a bright working-class girl who dreams of someday becoming a doctor herself. And, if you're Barry Laverty, still smarting from a painful breakup, there might even be a chance for a new romance with a lovely school teacher, if her passionate political convictions don't get in the way.
Much has changed in Ballybucklebo, and bigger changes are in store, but the lives and practices of these Irish country doctors remain as captivating and irresistible as ever.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely Delightful!I had a chance to review A Dublin Student Doctor in the audiobook format in 2011 and I immediately fell in love with the series and this author. I find John Keating’s narrating for the characters just amazing. I originally got into this series because having worked in the medical field for years, I love my medical in books, and I find all the unique Vintage medical scenes in Taylor’s series fascinating. Set in the village of Ballybucklebo in northern Ireland An Irish Country Wedding, book #7 in the series continues with the country practitioners Dr’s Fingal and Barry tending to patients physically as well as emotionally. You also have Dr Fingal Flahertie O’Reilly and Kitty O’Hallorhan preparing for their wedding while Fingal’s young colleague Barry Laverty, M.B spends his time courting the young school teacher Susan. I really like the double romance theme between the two couples. In fact many of my favorite parts in this book are scenes between Barry and Susan and their erratic relationship.I find the historical fiction, which by the way is well researched by the author, quite interesting and as in his other books the scenery is timeless. I would recommend this audiobook series to anyone who would like to read about an unconventional cast of characters in a charming little village and who would not mind the irish dialect, which I myself find delightful.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The first book was perfectly inoffensive - light and sort of amusing, but it's all just a bit too insubstantial for me. It reads very much like something that was always intended to be made into a PBS mini-series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is the second book in a series about a young doctor adjusting to life in a small village in NOrthern Ireland during the early 1960's. I found this to bve a light, fun, heart-warming read remeniscent of James Herriots' books about a Yorkshire veterinarian.A bonus for me is that the setting is not far from my ancestral home. That seemed to personalize it a bit, and made it even more fun. I adored it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Falling into the class of “Comfort Reads”, An Irish Country Village picks up where the first volume left off. We follow the adventures of young Dr. Barry Laverty as he joins the practice of the older, gruff, heart-of-gold, Dr. Fingal Flahertie O’Reilly. Trying to fit into the small rural village of Ballybuckbo isn’t easily done as everything the young doctor does comes under scrutiny. A huge cast of characters with assorted ailments or problems drift in and out of the doctor’s waiting room and the two doctors analyse, console and/or treat as the condition demands.Humorous, light, entertaining reading with a touch of the Irish blarney. A great book to curl up with on a cold winter’s day.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another fun group of happenings in the fictional village of Ballybuckledo, Northern Island. Dr. Laverty, Patricia Spense, and Kinky Kincaid all work with the larger than life Dr. Fingle Flaherty O'Reilly to make life better for all residents.
