About this audiobook
From a remarkable new voice in suspenseful women's fiction comes an emotionally searing drama about a woman who risks her life to discover the devastating truth about her family.…
Humanitarian aid worker Gia Andrews chases disasters around the globe for a living. It's the perfect lifestyle to keep her far away from her own personal ground zero. Sixteen years ago, Gia's father was imprisoned for brutally killing her stepmother. Now he's come home to die of cancer, and she's responsible for his care—and coming to terms with his guilt.
Gia reluctantly resumes the role of daughter to the town's most infamous murderer, a part complete with protesters on the lawn and death threats that are turning tragedy into front-page news. Returning to life in small-town Tennessee involves rebuilding relationships that distance and turmoil have strained, though finding an emotional anchor in the attractive hometown bartender is certainly helping Gia cope.
As the past unravels before her, Gia will find herself torn between the stories that her family, their friends and neighbors, and even her long-departed stepmother have believed to be real all these years. But in the end, the truth—and all the lies that came before—may have deadlier consequences than she could have ever anticipated.…

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed the story and it was well done. The reader was super annoying in changing her voice for male characters and her southern accent was horrible. I stuck with it because I wanted to know what happened but it was very poor choices in execution of reading.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I found it much better than Dear Wife. My interest was held by the emotions motivating each person. Truly about why more than what. One less star because the ending was toothless, too uncomplicated.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is actually a good story, but the narraration is HORRIBLE. I think they used one person to do all the voices or some weird thing. Good story, worst narration ever.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed this audiobook so much. The story was fast paced, never a dull moment.
Keeps you guessing to the very end - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I usually save my audiobooks for drives, but kept this one on all the time. The mystery and it’s twists were not obvious or insulting to the reader, and the book was interesting all the way through. Great ending! Appropriate for the characters. Murder Mystery, Romance, Southern twangs, and all likable characters except a couple.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic. Really, really good book with lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing. I thought I had solved the book so many times.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love this page turner of an intriguing tale that Belle has woven with her threads of romance, family relationships, morality, life motivations, effects of early trauma, and mystery--where love, in many of its life-supporting forms, ultimately prevails.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Listened to this because I really enjoyed Dear Wife. This audiobook was more silly romance than thriller so I was disappointed. .
