The narrator was stellar!! The characters well-developed. But, holy cow! Long, long long! It drug badly in places. Guess I’m too much of a Yankee!

I don’t know how these types of nooks are classified
Are they chick lit, women’s beach books or just fiction, but this was an entertaining book, and a great story, about second chances, family and loneliness.
I will definitely read others from this author.

The characters in this Lowcountry novel reminded me of the characters in Sullivan's Island. Where they give you feeling of being just slightly over the top. The story was better though. There was more substance to it and the storyline was a little more interesting, even if I didn't like the cast.

I enjoyed this book as much as her other novels. I felt it tended to get long-winded, maybe a little preachy, in places. Loved the narrator but the “Lucy” character voice was a little much for me and I found myself wanting those pages to be over quickly.

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book. However, I felt the entire date-rape and resulting pregnancy scenario was dealt with way to casually; and the ending relating to that part of the story made me want to throw the book across the room.

I'll definitely be giving her other books a try, but I hope they handle sensitive, serious topics in a slightly better fashion. Or just leave out the serious stuff altogether, to make it a perfect beach read.

I really liked this story because she did what I would love to do, get a house by the ocean-own her own business-have good friends and family-romance. The ending seemed to go on forever though.7/29/04

I have to say I never read drama's and was very surprised by this author and the book. Isle of Palms is the first book I read and I feel in love with it. Anna is very humorous, charming and witty at times. We can all relate to her story in some shape, form, or fashion. There is a bit of drama, comedy and a few life's lessons along the way. Not to mention her ex husband, daughter, father etc and some of her customers and co workers are a hoot. This book is very intriguing and I am looking forward to reading more from Dorothea Benton Frank

Her daugh. emily, exhusband gay-Jim, dad Dougle and girlfriend Lucy, hair salon, drinks, secrets, salon Anna's Cabana, Miss Angel and Miss Mavis from her youth, love, family time. I even laughed twice whie reading this book. Dorothy Benton Frank tells a delightful story with likeable characters.
