About this audiobook
After thirteen years of international bestseller stardom with his works of violent crime fiction, author George Stark is officially declared dead—revealed by a national magazine to have been killed at the hands of the man who created him: the once well-regarded but now obscure writer Thad Beaumont. Thad’s even gone so far as to stage a mock burial of his wildly successful pseudonym, complete with tombstone and the epitaph “Not a Very Nice Guy.” Although on the surface, it seems that Thad can finally concentrate on his own novels, there’s a certain unease at the prospect of leaving George Stark behind. But that’s nothing compared to the horror about to descend upon Thad’s new life. There are the vicious, out-of-control nightmares, for starters. And how is he able to explain the fact that everyone connected to George Stark’s untimely demise is now meeting a brutal end of their own in a pattern of homicidal savagery…and why each blood-soaked crime scene has Thad’s fingerprints all over it? Thad Beaumont may have once believed that George Stark was running out of things to say, but he’s going to find out just how wrong he is…

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very good book recommend to anyone that enjoys Stephen kings thrillers
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was not as good as some of the other SK novels, but not bad.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent thrill ride from start to end. The way in which King portrays the horror of George Stark and his wanton disregard for human life is chilling. You feel for Thad and his family as they are dragged through a living nightmare conjured by his own psychosis.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A good homage to King's own Dark Half. Narrated quite well too.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Grover Gardener did a great job with the narration, but this book feels like one of the weaker King tales.
Like always, there is plenty to enjoy, but overall I found the main characters unlikeable, and the overall story didn’t hold much mystery for me either.
I would recommend this one only to King purists who need to satisfy their curiosity.
But hey, I liked The Tommyknockers and everyone hates that one, so take it with a grain of salt. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent audiobook! Riveting, edge-of-your-seat action and suspense combined with King’s unique blend of poetic and original similes, metaphors and analogies, as well as his usual New England hokum. The voice of George Stark is particularly menacing and charming. I’ve been curious about this book for many years and I’m glad I finally got around to listening to it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic yarn from beginning to end and beautifully paced! And while I don't personally think that SK writes satisfying endings for many of his books this one certainly does not suffer from that, it's wrapped up wonderfully. King at his finest!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As with all Stephen King Stories (so far...)this one held my attention and I worried about the characters, the GOOD ones,as if they were Family. The people were so true to life it was easy to let myself feel involved in the storyline, maybe a neighbor or friend watching as the days unrolled and the current horrors occurred. VERY good story.
