About this audiobook

From the New York Times bestselling author of such "sizzling Stark novels" (RT Book Reviews) as Release Me and Say My Name comes a Stark International Novel featuring provocative bad boy Dallas Sykes-the first in a new trilogy in the S.I.N. series.

It was wrong for us to be together, but it was even harder to be apart.

The memory of Dallas Sykes burns inside of me.

Everyone knows him as a notorious playboy, a man for whom women and money are no object. But to me, he's still the one man I desperately crave-yet the one I can never have.

Dallas knows me better than anyone else. We bear the same scars, the same darkness in our past. I thought I could move on by staying away, but now that we're drawn together once more, I can't fight the force of our attraction or the temptation to make him mine.

We've tried to maintain control, not letting ourselves give in to desire. And for so long we've told ourselves no-but now it's finally time to say yes.

Dirtiest Secret is intended for mature audiences.

This is the first book I have read by J Kenner and I did enjoy it. I wasn't sure if I would like it and though some of the themes in the book sounded like they would make me uncomfortable, the way it is written keeps you totally engaged in the story., The end of the book leaves you hanging, so of course I will be reading the next one!

Wow. This book was surprisingly good! It was disturbing and incredibly frustrating, but I think that was the point. And honestly, that's probably what made this book as provocative as it was; I couldn't put it down. I can't believe I have to wait until July for the next one and then October for the one after that, because I know I'm going to want it, dang it! I've said it before and I'm saying it again... cliffhangers suck. But this story is worth the wait.

I have read many of J Kenner's books. This book, to me, was the ground work for the rest of the series. It took some time to get into the characters, but feel that it is only the beginning for a new, and exciting series. I can't wait for the next installment!

I knew nothing about the author going into this book. I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. While I will say that I was intrigued by the story itself I felt the erotica part of the book got in the way. I will admit that this is not the typical genre that I read however, I did not give it three stars for that reason. I found that though her writing was good, her timeline hopping needed a bit more finesse. I found that the characters were developed enough but that I was distracted from becoming attached to them due to the sexual nature of the book. The first chapter honestly made me want to put the book down, and I am glad the rest of the book was't the same as chapter one. I also found the "plot twist" in the end to be predictable and I had figured it out early on. While this may not be the final outcome of the series, I would bet with confidence, that I know what the ending will be. I feel like the book over all was just lack luster.

Actual rating: 3.5While I did enjoy this book, reading it felt a bit like walking through syrup - it was slow going. And while this book is supposed to be a romance, to me, it seemed more like dark contemporary fiction. The romance was there, but felt awkward. What really moved this forward was Dallas' work with Deliverance, and trying to find out who kidnapped him and Jane seventeen years ago. After finishing this book, I quickly started on the next in the series, Hottest Mess - and that one moved a lot faster. I actually had a hard time putting Hottest Mess down, and the cliffhanger is big enough that I cannot wait for the third book. Considering this is book one in a trilogy, it is hard to judge this book by itself - I will probably have a better idea of my true feelings after having read all of them.

I have always liked books by J, Kenner and this one did not disappoint! At first I did not know if I would like it but it pulls you right in and I cannot wait to read the next one that comes out in July. I usually try to read all books in series order and did not realize that there was a Novella that introduced Dallas with Nikki and Damien, it is the Deepest Kiss: A Stark Ever After Novella. I then realized that I missed the series on Jackson Steele and now will need to go back and read that one. So, if you are like me and would rather read in order then I would read the other books prior to this one but don't miss on out this one.

Sorry, but I just couldn't seem to connect with this book. It was well written and the story line should be interesting (adopted sibling/forbidden love angle, the two siblings were kidnapped at age 15, Dallas heads up a mercenary organization hunting down their kidnappers while Jane's ex works for the government and is leading a separate search that could thwart Dallas), but for whatever reason, I just couldn't engage. In fact, at about the 50% mark, I started skimming to the end.I think part of the reason is this story was told both in first person POV (Jane) and third person (Dallas). These seemed weird to me since Dallas' POV still included his thoughts, feelings and opinions. The only difference was the pronoun usage (he vs I, etc). What was the point? Why not be consistent and use the ever popular dual POV? Also, both characters were constantly reiterating the fact they couldn't be together, that their love was forbidden. I get it, their relationship is a bit taboo. No need to repeat it on every page. And why was it forbidden, exactly? They shared no blood and Jane wasn't even adopted until age 11, so it's not like they've been calling each other brother and sister from birth. Jane had a different man she called Dad up until the adoption. The only issue seemed to be their adoptive father, Eli, had threaten to disinherit them if they got together. These two supposedly love each other. Why not just get disinherited? Is it better to be rich, lonely, and miserable or to be doing okay while being happy? It's not even like they would be completely broke without the family money. Jane has a successful career as an author and I'm sure Dallas can use his experience working for his father's security company to find another company to work for. Or start his own. This seemed like a lot of unnecessary angst. The mystery surrounding the kidnapping was good and I am curious to see how that plot line turns out, though not curious enough to read the next book in the series.

I liked the way this author set up the relationship between Dallas and Jane I think even with the hard hurtles between the two they were true and honest and there wasn't a second guess between them a lot of angst and struggles and steam which makes for a good read. I'll be honest it took a bit to get through their first "encounter" but as long as you can push past the age issue because it's a part of the back story and needed to understand them as adults. This is a good read and a great story.

4 "King of Appearances" Stars!J Kenner is known for her alpha dominant heroes and Dirty Secret certainly features one of those. However, this may be the rawest, most angst-filled love story yet. However, readers should be cautioned to only undertake this emotional journey if they love dark romances and subjects that broach taboo and forbidden themes. That said, like smoke and mirrors, not everything is what it seems, so you will want to give this story a chance to play out before drawing any conclusions. Dallas Sykes is a famous, rich bad boy who is an infamous player. All the women want to be with him--even if he doesn't do repeats--just to be seen with him, except for one: Jane. Jane still longs for the comfort and feelings that only Dallas can give her. He was there during her/their worst hour and she still regrets leaving. But with a past as twisted as theirs, can their ever be a second chance? In the end, the tortured beginnings of this unfortunate couple won me over and had me rooting for them to finally find happiness. Ultimately, however, only you can decide if their union is a sin or sinfully wicked. And be forewarned, to get the full story you will need to read the entire trilogy. An intriguing taboo love story but it was mired in a kidnaping subplot as well as a bdsm subplot. It was well written but the pace was slower than I would have liked. There wasn’t really romance, it was more like dark and erotic passion. I suspect more romance will come in book 2.bdsm photo: images16_zps5a3ddec1.jpgDallas Sykes is known to the general public as “The King of F**k”, the billionaire and uber playboy who has and will sleep with anyone. But behind the mask lies a lonely man who desperately longs for only one woman. He uses his time, money and influence to fight behind the scenes as the founder of Deliverance. A mercenary group dedicated to rescuing kidnapping victims and returning them to their loved ones.Jane Martin has been working for ten years to exorcise the demons from her traumatic kidnapping where she was held for ransom with her brother Dallas. Now she is taking up fighting vigilante groups that focus on the reward money as opposed to the actual kidnapping victim.Dallas and Jane are doing their best to keep busy because they feel bereft without the person their heart desires the most. The angst of the situation kept it suspenseful. I was hopeful because it was clear there would be healing once Dallas and Jane surrendered. To deal with their yearning, Dallas and Jane begin sexual play that is both erotic and very sensual.bdsm photo: BDSM utcfultxc.jpgI felt like a voyeur but I also really wanted some resolution for Dallas and Jane after their traumatic experience ten years ago. This coping mechanism would be bad press for the family’s business if it were to be exposed but it was just what the two of them needed. What I didn’t like the build of the forbidden issue perhaps because I didn’t find it so unthinkable. Such emphasis was placed on it when it was clear that the hero and heroine were undeniably drawn to each other. The story flowed much smoother when they gave in to their feelings.I also didn’t like the relationship with the parents as there seemed to be full acceptance and love without strings.I look forward to the resolution of the mastermind of the devious kidnapping as I have my suspicions. I also look forward to Dallas and Jane finally coming to grips with all they have been running from.

I have to preface this review with the fact that I don't have a lot of experience reading this genre, aside from 50 Shades. I was impressed by the story line that drove the tale forward, the history of the kidnapping of the two main characters, it wasn't sappy or contrived, and it made me want to keep reading. The history of the couple is that they have been friends since childhood. When Jane was little, her no-good dad ended up doing the family dirty for the last time, driving Jane's mom into the arms of another man. A very wealthy, famous man. Around the same time, this man's ended up adopting his brother's son, Dallas, and bringing him into the family home. The housekeeper's son Liam rounded out the trio of children in the house, the three of them becoming fast friends as well as close as real family. Jane, Dallas and Liam grew up together in this wealthy family, however no one knew that Jane and Dallas were secretly falling in love with each other. Siblings by adoption, they were conflicted by their feelings. Society and law say their love is forbidden but they fight against their attraction every day. When Dallas begins acting out their father attributing his poor behavior to his biological father's illegal tendencies, and by the time they hit their mid-teens, their father has had enough. Dallas gets shipped off to a boarding school in Europe, effectively separating the two lovebirds for a while. One fateful weekend, Jane sneaks away to visit Dallas at his school, and tragedy strikes, as the two are kidnapped while stealing a moment to themselves. Held captive for several weeks, Jane eventually is released, but Dallas is held by himself for 4 extra weeks. This time of captivity has shaped the lives of both Jane and Dallas ever since.Fast forward 15 years, and Jane and Dallas are both yearning for each other. Though they hardly ever see each other, they both long to be together, both realizing their love is still forbidden.Dallas has turned into a serial womanizer, oftentimes jumping from one woman to the next (seemingly without even showering in between), and Jane has been following the stories about Dallas throughout the years. This book doesn't really end so much, as sets up a sequel to pick up where this book left off. There is definitely explicit language, this is not a book I would loan out to my mom. But I did enjoy the story and it was definitely more well-written than other books I've read in this genre. I won this copy via Library Thing.
