    Among the most “banned” books in the United States, Uncle Tom’s Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly is a novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe which treats slavery as a central theme. Stowe was a Connecticut-born teacher at the Hartford Female Academy and an active abolitionist. The novel is believed to have had a profound effect on the North’s view of slavery. In fact, when he met Harriet Beecher Stowe, President Lincoln is said to have commented, “So you’re the little lady whose book started the Civil War.” First published on March 20, 1852, the story focuses on the tale of Uncle Tom, a long-suffering black slave, the central character around whose life the other characters—both fellow slaves and slave owners—revolve. The novel depicts the harsh reality of slavery while also showing that Christian love and faith can overcome even something as evil as enslavement of fellow human beings.

      Other than some glitches with order on the book and one section omitted, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The notes were a bonus and the narrator was the best!

      This audiobook is very good where the author describes is a novel by the author that treats slavery as a central theme, describes the harsh reality of slavery, while showing that Christian love and faith motivate you every day to listen to it It is a very good one, this narrator has an excellent voice and I recommend it 100% it is a very good job , the good work of the narrator of the book makes one keep listening to the audible without interference, thank you.

      Now I understand how this book was said to be the cause of the civil war. Slavery is evil. It was hard to listen to, turned my stomach and made me cry.

      Nice.This book is as important today as it was in pre civil war days. It helps us to understand what happened in regard go race relations and serves as a warning as go what happens when a group of people is deprived of civil rights.Wonderful audiobook,i have gonethrough all chapters of this book and also applied to my life and this book is very helpful for everyone.This book is very inspirational and life changing. Amazing content and can easily be appreciated by anyone. It is the result of a big creativity and efforts made by the writer .       This book was banned before the civil war and many times since. This is the biggest mistake as I believe it serves as a stark record of what happens when good people allow evil to continue in silence. This books details the relationships, loves, ties, and souls afflicted by such. If you haven’t read this yet please do, as it hits all things any edifying seeker could hope for

      This was an eye opener of a book. I thought I knew most of how the slaves were treated but this tells a lot more AND it is based on actual stories. Its amazing to think it was written at a time when slavery was still a big business. This is not for the sensitive reader, though it is sensitively written and with humour at times. Highly recommended if you are interested in the history of that time. It is still hard to believe that humans could treat each other this way.

      Great book, it helped me get the courage to finally break up with my wife, now I don’t ever have to see her rusty and dusty face ever again.       The tumultuous and twisting plot makes for a real page-turner of a novel and the journeys undertaken by the main characters of the novel are cleverly paralleled in terms of hope. When a sense of hope for a new life and new beginning for one character overtakes the devastating loss of hope for another, the effect is bittersweet and one can't help but wish that Beecher Stowe had composed a sequel.

      Of course, the dominant theme of slavery woven throughout the novel makes for a deeply disturbing lesson in the History of not just the USA but also of the world. Through Beecher Stowe's eyes we learn about perhaps the most damaging effects of "peculiar institution" – not the physical punishment the slaves are served, nor the loss of the fundamental human right to liberty, but the separation of families and loved ones, a cruel reminder of the dehumanised way in which the slaves were treated.
