      I'm only giving this two stars because the ending helped make slogging through this book a little more worth it. And I only finished it so I could leave this review.

      Emma is the most immature character. She reads more like nineteen than late twenties. She constantly plays the victim, refusing to stand up for herself in almost every situation. Her friends are useless too. I'm not sure any of them are actually likeable. They never defend her or even encourage to defend herself. The one time she finally finds a backbone it is to bully a co-worker. Every single mention of the bullied character involved fat-shaming. Every time. I have had some pretty horrible colleagues that I do not like at all, but I have never been obsessed with their obesity. It's a cheap laugh and extremely outdated to think that it's acceptable today to create a character whose sole purpose is to be the punchline of fat jokes.

      This book was in serious need of editing. There are many scenes that I suppose were for laughs, but instead they just seemed pointless and rambling. It is too bad because the author has a nice flair for dialogue, and the story has much potential. Unfortunately the characters were not great and the plot not original enough to make up for that.

      This novel has a story, I liked the title and saved it for like the last three years, and forgot all about it. One day,it popped right in front of me,while listening to another book. I knew it was a sign to stop everything and read it, yup, I read the alchemist, and boy, The sign was right, I loved the humor, the author knows how to surprise you with a laugh out loud moment, like really out of the blue,and then bam,one character says something so normal,yet within the context,so hilarious. I really loved it. Also the narrator is just perfect and she gave every character it’s own charismatic voice,or so I thought. The story on the other hand, is just so good in a-ordinary-life-story-sort of way, where the characters are so human and flawed, and they just go with the flow of life,as best as they see how. I loved Emma, I really understood her kind spirit and her moments of tantrums, even the hero(joe), he was so human, unlike other stories, where the hero is this macho man, who fears nothing and has everything, the whole thing was so realistic in a lovely way, where you just fall in love. Five stars, easily.

      Catherine Bennetto is a new author for me. I really enjoyed this book. It was very sweet and funny. I loved watching the relationship between Emma and Joe form and develope. I hope to read more of her books in the future.

      I could not get into this book. I listened through chapter 16 and it was really boring to me. I could tell things were being set up but they were drawn out way too long and did not keep my interest.

      The overall humor of the narration had me chuckling often and I audibly said, "Damn" at the series of unfortunate events for Emma. However, I also found Emma very frustrating for a main character. I can relate to not being confrontational BUT some of the things that she folded on or didn't speak up on were just absurd to me. Her friends kinda suck, especially Helena whom I kept hoping was going to be a true friend but really wasn't. Sophie should habe been cut off and not wondered about early on. Douglas was OK but not great... She could really use some better people in her life. Her uncle & aunt's relationship was confusing in terms of why they were still married. Ned was pretty clear he didn't want kids in the beginning. I never saw or understood when that changed for him since there was no conversation about that and Emma kept narrating about raising the baby on her own. It seemed like he might have had a change of heart at the sonogram but it wasn't consistent or clear. He never talked about providing for the baby yet money problems were known throughout the book. And he acted very distant and uncomfortable after the baby was born. I didn't get why Emma invited him to come to the sonogram appt or why her sister felt he needed to be at the hospital. And I was very annoyed he had a voice in naming the baby. And I didn't really understand why Martha seemed to outright hate Emma right away (although Emma's internal dialogue surrounding Martha made it hard to sympathize for Emma being immediately disliked). Even though his intro into the story was kinda weird, I think Joe ended up being my favorite of everyone.

      Fun story! Bennetto is a clever author, numerous times throughout the story, I found myself wishing I had such a fun sense of humor. And the narration was excellent. Narration can make or break a story, and she nailed it!

      This book was so much fun from start to finish and the voice actress (because that's what she was) deserves an award for carrying the entire story like it was her own, I felt like I was watching a movie because of how talented both author and narrator are.
