About this audiobook
In this “candid and blackly funny” (The New York Times) memoir, Hillary Rodham Clinton reveals what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history. She takes us inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules.
“At her most emotionally raw” (People), Hillary describes what it was like to run against Donald Trump, the mistakes she made, how she has coped with a shocking and devastating loss, and how she found the strength to pick herself back up afterward. She tells readers what it took to get back on her feet—the rituals, relationships, and reading that got her through, and what the experience has taught her about life. In this “feminist manifesto” (The New York Times), she speaks to the challenges of being a strong woman in the public eye, the criticism over her voice, age, and appearance, and the double standard confronting women in politics.
Offering a “bracing... guide to our political arena” (The Washington Post), What Happened lays out how the 2016 election was marked by an unprecedented assault on our democracy by a foreign adversary. By analyzing the evidence and connecting the dots, Hillary shows just how dangerous the forces are that shaped the outcome, and why Americans need to understand them to protect our values and our democracy in the future.
The election of 2016 was unprecedented and historic. What Happened is the story of that campaign, now with a new epilogue showing how Hillary grappled with many of her worst fears coming true in the Trump Era, while finding new hope in a surge of civic activism, women running for office, and young people marching in the streets.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good to hear the views of the author in her own voice. Honest, open. You might not always agree and it is obvious she has lived a very privileged life but worth listening to, to get the full picture.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5During my life, I've always known Hillary Clinton but never knew whether to like her or dislike her. During the 2016, I almost hated her. After listening to this book (I even bought a hard copy at some airport but never got to read it), I can confidently say I admire this person greatly. Please, give this book a hard try and finish it even if you feel like you despise this person. I promise it will help you understand both sides better and will bring some inner peace that is so rare these days.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great struggle and relegation, there was no way any candidate yet alone Hilliary could beat Trump and the Russians. A great candidate's relevation that history can repeat itself, and yet we can never learn from
it. We can only pray now together.4 people found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5love it. Think how much better our country would be on the world stage with HRC. If it wasn't for that fool Comey we'd have her.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5More rambling and blaming others by this sociopathic narcissist. The monotonous voice leaves much to be desired. The Clinton crime family needs to either go away or be put away. This book shows just how Hillary Clinton cannot accept blame for anything that she does or doesn't do. Everything is everybody ekses fault. Let me summarize for you. Here's what happened.... She lost. Because she wasn't a qualified candidate. Saved you hours. Thank me later today

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Its an interesting analysis by a longtime politician into the 2016 election. It may be coloured by some bias, but it does help highlight some of the inequities faced by US voters and the majority of her points have been corroborated by journalists, political experts throughout the country and data from highly regarded sources.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love how honest she is about her whole experience. She is so encouraging and this book gives me hope for the future.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book feels like a cover up and preperation for another Presidential election. She lost because of her failure not by some Maverick. Thus is just shifting her blame from herself to another. Everybody knows that she acted like automaton .which led to her loss
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the book. It is part of a discussion about where we are and where we are going.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Whine, blame, deny, cry. Her failure is everyone else's fault.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5She’s a Clinton and a liar. She covered up rape for her slime bag husband and this book is a terrible hypocrisy, and collection of her seething hatred toward all her enemies.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book made me mad and then really sad. I can’t believe we could have had someone so competent and stable as our president. But it is definitely a must read. She’s very honest about herself in it. So regardless of what all the haters are saying, she does recognize her faults and doesn’t put the blame on anyone. Anyone who says otherwise clearly did not read this.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5It is distasteful to hear her platitudes and insincerity in her push to make a buck off of losing the presidency. Sounds a lot like what we heard during the campaign, but it was sold as telling us how she lost.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book was obviously ghost written. All she does is blame everything else besides herself. She chose not to campaign in Michigan and Wisconsin. Unlike the other comments say, she is not stable - on 9/11 before the election she had a seizure and was thrown into the back of a van like a side of beef. She is a liar. I really should give this 5 stars because I am so grateful this is what we got out of her running for president instead of something much more sinister. Trump could be the worst president in history and he would still be a better president than Clinton ever would have been.
