About this audiobook

Lila Grace Carter talks to dead people. Admittedly, that's not out of the ordinary in Lockhart, South Carolina. In her words, "I'm Southern. We all talk to dead people down here. As a matter of fact, I don't believe I can truly trust anybody that doesn't speak to at least two or three dead relations on a daily basis. The difference is, they talk back to me."

Now there's a murderer on the loose in Lockhart, and Lila Grace is the only one who knows a crime was committed. Can she convince the sexy new sheriff that Jenny Miller didn't fall down the steps on her own? Will she catch the killer before another body is found? Does the sheriff think she's as attractive as she finds him?

REVIEW: I thoroughly enjoyed the feistiness of Lila Grace. Her budding relationship with the sexy sheriff is full of humor and southern, small town charm. Lila Grace offers to help the sheriff solve two murders. Willis wasn’t quite expecting her, nor all of the spirits determined to help also. A fun glimpse into the old South as they race off “on a ghost-fueled rescue mission.” I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Jessica Fletcher meets Aunt Bea meets Odd Thomas in this Southern Gothic Paranormal Mystery with a dose of romance from award-winning novelist John G. Hartness. Lila Grace Carter is your favorite new detective, you just don’t know it yet. She’s determined, smart, caring, and sassy as the day is long. She also talks to dead people. Of course, as she puts it, “I’m Southern. We all talk to dead people down here. The difference is, they talk back to me.” Lila Grace has lived in Lockhart, S.C. her entire life, and has always been shunned for being different. Discovering her ability to see and talk to ghosts at an early age, she used her ability to help people settle disputes, communicate with lost loved one, and generally make life better in small ways. Until poor dead Jenny Miller showed up on her doorstep. Now Lila Grace has a teenaged ghost following her around, a handsome new sheriff in town, and a murderer in her sleepy southern town. This ain’t Mayberry, kids. Award-winning author and poet John G. Hartness has mined his southern roots for inspiration and color in this supernatural love letter to small-town Southern life.
