About this audiobook
This FBI agent has come to expect almost anything—just not this…
When Agent Mercedes Ramirez finds an abused young boy on her porch, covered in blood and clutching a teddy bear, she has no idea that this is just the beginning. He tells her a chilling tale: an angel killed his parents and then brought him here so Mercedes could keep him safe.
His parents weren’t just murdered. It was a slaughter—a rage kill like no one on the Crimes Against Children team had seen before. But they’re going to see it again. An avenging angel is meting out savage justice, and she’s far from through.
One by one, more children arrive at Mercedes’s door with the same horror story. Each one a traumatized survivor of an abusive home. Each one chafing at Mercedes’s own scars from the past. And each one taking its toll on her life and career.
Now, as the investigation draws her deeper into the dark, Mercedes is beginning to fear that if this case doesn’t destroy her, her memories might.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What a great book about surviving a terrible past as a child. Normally I don't read books about crimes against children, however this author's writing skills supassed what the story revolves around; a serial criminal abusing children and then dropping them off at an FBI special victims unit agents house in the middle of the night....and they are holding a teddy bear. YES! It will hook you from the beginning page. I had no idea that this was book three in a series. I understood it fine. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a well written crime thriller. WARNING: There are some graphic depictions of sexual abuse and rape of children.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn’t like the narration too much. She kept a more dramatic/intense tone throughout the whole thing. I didn’t care for that.
The story was just Ok. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love this series! Awesome details & stories are well connected from one book to the other.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a awesome story! I could not quit listening to it. It told of pain, heartbreak, and betrayal., but it also told of love, compassion, bravery and a woman who went thru hell and made it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was a different take on life in the FBI. I liked the portrayal of the comadrie within the team and the way of working with the children they were trying to protect.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved the story. The narration was mostly good. Sometimes the emotion was not honest and accurate. It became unnatural. I found that sad.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this author. She does something that 90% of other authors don’t do. She takes time to end a book in a way that ties up everything that you may have not caught or not understood. And if the book is in a series, like this book, she doesn’t give anything about the next book but makes it so you can’t wait for it. Most authors rush the ending and just cuts it off leaving you empty. Love this author and this series of books.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a great continuation of the story. Can't wait to listen to the next one!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very fast moving. Like the way the past wove throughout the story. A disturbing topic handled very delicately. Recommend.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This series thus far is definitely worth the time....I would listen to it again without hesitation in the future
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I cannot get enough of this series. It's storyline is gripping and the characters steal your heart. It's original and though provoking. Highly recommend the read.
