What happens when America's First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales?

When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Heads of family, state, and other handlers devise a plan for damage control: staging a truce between the two rivals. What at first begins as a fake, Instragramable friendship grows deeper, and more dangerous, than either Alex or Henry could have imagined. Soon Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret romance with a surprisingly unstuffy Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations and begs the question: Can love save the world after all? Where do we find the courage, and the power, to be the people we are meant to be? And how can we learn to let our true colors shine through? Casey McQuiston's Red, White & Royal Blue proves: true love isn't always diplomatic.

Praise for Red, White & Royal Blue:

“Effervescent and empowering on all levels, Red, White & Royal Blue is both a well-written love story and a celebration of identity.” — NPR

"I took this with me wherever I went and stole every second I had to read! Absorbing, hilarious, tender, sexy—this book had everything I crave. I’m jealous of all the readers out there who still get to experience Red, White & Royal Blue for the first time!" - Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of Love and Other Words and Roomies

"Red, White & Royal Blue is outrageously fun. It is romantic, sexy, witty, and thrilling. I loved every second." - Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Maybe in Another Life

Glad to see this book on here because I have seen so many people raving about it but honesty... I don't get the hype. The best way I can describe this it is that it's like a fanfic. Not because it's bad in any way (and not because the tone and style of some scenes would make me bet my life that the author got her start writing gay smut on AO3), but rather that it is very self indulgent and safe. Everything you think is going to happen, happens and they all turn out alright at the end of the day. There's lots of longing and sappy romantic emails but also everyone constantly talks in one liners and they have snarky group chats (which were so odd to hear in audiobook form lol if I hear "HRH Prince Dickhead Poop Emoji" one more time I think I might explode). The voice for Henry in this reading was questionable, but you got used to it.
If you want an easy and sweet romance and are ready for a lot of suspension of disbelief then this is the book for you! It was a fun holiday read, but it's not exactly ground breaking.

For anyone who has lost hope, this book will give it to you. It feels like a straight shot of dopamine . I would categorize this as alternative history to be honest. The future we deserved, not the smoking dumpster fire everyone is trying to parade as progress.

The two characters are complex but realistic enough that you won't feel like you are reading a laundry list of fan fiction traits. Sure, you have to suspend your disbelief at some points. But overall, this book is great. The future in this book should be something we strive to have. A future of love.

I was unsure of this book before listening and what pushed me to read it were the reviews, which even then I suspected might be manufactured. I hoped this book would be similar to Christopher Buckley whom I love. It is not. It fell completely flat in my opinion. Being a fictional Prince is not in itself anything special. There are probably more fictional emperors than there are fictional plumbers, and so being a fictional Prince cannot drive a book. As for LGBT, that also cannot drive a book. Perhaps people of the community like reading about it but it does not a book make. Only the last few chapters had any real tension and were worth reading.

I liked it, but it’s way too long. It would have been a lot better with serious trimming.

I just want someone else to acknowledge that this audiobook narrorator sounds exactly like Adam Scott and that simple fact and the hilariousness of this book made me feel like I was in a gay supersized episode of Parks and Rec and it was just so lovely. Any negative review of this book is WRONG.

I'm still feeling high from finishing this so don't expect much but I absolutely love it. If you like a fast paced, happy ending, LGBTQ+ novel with a smidge of politics (I think its a smidge, I stopped paying attention to the politics since like, the second chapter) you will absolutely love this. It has a lot of fluff, sweet moment, perfect progression and thankfully, no prolonged angst. Anyway, love it so much.

This is quite literally one of the best books I’ve ever read. I want to be in love with someone like this. Also I’ve always wanted to marry a prince so it just encourages that stupid fantasy. I live in a state that always votes red. I tear up every time (and I’ve read the book more than once) that I get to the part about how Texas votes. This book is what I hope for the world. I hope people can love who they love and they can care deeply about other people. You need to read this book.

I can see why this was so hyped! Alex and Henry are a beautiful couple! This book was written so freaking well!!! Hilarious and sweet and with just the right amount of sauciness!!!!! I will definitely have to read this again. The audio book was great, thanks to the perfectly chosen narrator.

    Were do I start?

I loved this book I finally get what all the hype is about. First off I listened to the audiobook and the narrator just perfected the voices of all the characters. The sarcasm and witty humour had me literally laughing out loud while I was waiting for my bus home from work. (glad no one was around)

Alex and Henry are ‘enemies’, or so they think. One being the presidents son and one being a prince they have a lot on their plate so them being slated in the tabloids is not a good look for anyone of the families. Can I just say that this didn’t feel like a hate to love romance it definitely felt more like a denial to love romance and I was here for it all the way through.

All the characters dialogue just flowed seamlessly weather Alex was speaking to Henry, Nora or June. They all just had a vibe that made you believe people would say what they are saying although I do think in reality we’d all need more time to think about witty remarks especially so many time in a conversation. The character were very fleshed out and made you love them. Alex and Henry are different but they want for the same future.

The story of how they got together makes me feel like I’ve just read a book of their whole like I can’t believe at the start of this book they were only messing around and now, now they are love. All the sneaking about, believing it was only physical, getting the families to understand and let their truth be heard was all worth it in the end for them to finally end up together.

So safe to say I loved this book and it’s one of my favourite romances of the year!

This book is an entertaining diversion from weightier ones. I wonder how better off the US would be in Hillary Clinton had won in 2016.
