About this audiobook

Miller: When Talon left to play pro ball six years ago, the hole in my chest confused me. I focused my heartache into making my own NFL dreams come true, and by the time I was drafted, the longing I had for my best friend was buried deep. Now he wants everything to be like it was in college, but we can't have threesomes and be reckless like we once were. The media storm would be enough to break both our careers. That's not my biggest concern, though. The torch I had for him burns brighter after so long apart, and there's nothing I can do about it. Marcus Talon is straight. I need to stay away from him.

Talon: Years ago, Miller and I made a pact that we'd win a Super Bowl together. When I'm offered a position on his team in Chicago, I don't hesitate. I move across the country to chase a dream that's a decade old. Only, now that I'm here, he's avoiding me every chance he gets. If he was anyone else, I'd cut my losses. But this is Shane Miller-the guy who makes everything better just by existing in my universe. The guy I'd do anything for. The guy who's more to me than a brother, a friend, or even a teammate. I'm not going to let him get away.

Like any other EF book it was really good it just didnt wow me!! It was already on reading list but I read it today because I have started Peyton's book- "Football Royalty "
Peyton is Talon and Miller's son and has a brother Brady. I like that other MCs from the series that I loved were included.
I think Miller was a tad bit unrealistic reagrding coming out TBH. For celebrities it is always best to release a statement and get in front of the situation regardless of sexuality. To think you can hide your romantic relationships from the media is impossible. Anyway they managed to eventually overcome the hurdles they were facing and they suported Jacskon at the same time.

I love, Love, LOVE Shane & Marc. This series just keeps getting better. Talon (Marcus) has always had it easy, he’s cocky and happy go lucky, 6 yrs in 2 championships and he’s a free agent, he takes the money and goes to a team that hasn’t won in a long time BUT it gives him a chance to play with his best friend and college teammate Miller (Shane) and Talon’s not going past on winning with Miller.
Miller realized a long time ago, he wanted more than friendship with Talon. Miller doesn’t see the reunion the same as Talon. When Miller has a season ending injury, he & Talon share a soul wrenching kiss before Miller heads to surgery & long rehab, Miller struggles to come to with if he’ll ever play again and Talon won’t accept anything but a full recovery and they discover each other. This another book where the guys don’t fight their attraction or feelings, there’s plenty of how will this work, can we survive the scrutiny, best of all it’s us and the friends we make facing whatever comes our way and it’s an awesome, feel good read or listen as the case may be.

4.5. I'm in love with the characters Finley creates and the relationship they are in. How each character gets to explore their sexuality and how they build their relationship. A healthy one at that.
I was also very interested in seeing how being part of the LGTB community "clashed" with being an elite player (NFL, NHL, etc.). It was sad to see how much work we still have to do as a society and it was very realistic, but at the same time, we got to see a happy ending. Which is the exact combination I wanted to see.

    - Premise was OK for a romance story.
    - Characters were OK but nothing special.
    - The writing was mediocre at best.
    - The conflicts were, for the most part, completely unnecessary and forced.
    - Sex scenes were OK.
    - I've already forgotten most of what I read.

I won't be continuing with Finley's books, because mediocre writing isn't made up for even with tropes I usually enjoy.

This was fine but not as good as some of Finley's other books. This was a book entirely based on internal conflict, which is usually a miss for me. There is so much back and forth on the coming out piece of this story and I started getting bored with it, especially since it is such a common plot point in books like this. I also wish we had seen more of their connection in college because I didn't feel like that was super well explored and that led to me having a hard time understanding why they felt so deeply connected.
