      This book had a lot of potential but it doesn’t quite hit its mark. The story hops back and forth between present day with Sarah trying to uncover the truth behind her grandfathers murder and the time leading up to his death. By the second chapter the reader is well aware of how cruel and brutal John was… meanwhile they’re subjected to Sarah’s constant indignation about how her poor poor grandfather was killed by the terrible pow… for nearly ten hours. Perhaps had the author thought to either temper Sarah’s convictions or gone to some effort to build upon vs immediately introduce john’s brutality the theme would have been a bit less grating, however the story truly flip flops every other chapter with such consistency that it beats the interest out of the reader.
      The atmosphere and the concepts were great.. the execution however makes me wish I’d never endured this marathon of a novel.
