About this audiobook

A former FBI agent is partnered with the enemy in this suspenseful male/male shifter romance from debut author Charlie Adhara.

Hunting for big bad wolves was never part of Agent Cooper Dayton's plan, but a werewolf attack lands him in the carefully guarded Bureau of Special Investigations. A new case comes with a new partner: ruggedly sexy werewolf Oliver Park.

Park is an agent of The Trust, a werewolf oversight organization working to ease escalating tensions with the BSI. But as far as Cooper's concerned, it's failing. As they investigate a series of mysterious deaths unlike anything they've seen, every bone in Cooper's body is suspicious of his new partner-even when Park proves himself as competent as he is utterly captivating.

When more people vanish, pressure to solve the case skyrockets. And though he'd resolved to keep things professional, Cooper's friction with Park soon erupts . . . into a physical need that can't be contained or controlled. But with a body count that's rising by the day, werewolves and humans are in equal danger. If Cooper and Park don't catch the killer soon, one-or both-of them could be the next to go.

Contains mature themes.

I'm writing this review after I've read/listened to all books available as of now (The wolf at the door, The wolf at bay, Thrown to the wolves, Wolf in sheep's clothing and Cry wolf) and I'm a little lost to be honest, because I'm fidgeting from withdrawal symptoms. I'm not quite sure what to do with my life now, that's how much I've loved being in the world of Cooper Dayton and Oliver Park. All of the books, except the first one gets a 5/5 from me, the first 4/5.
The first book wasn't much of a mystery to me, but it was still suspenseful and enjoyable, from there on the plots and world building only gets better and better. What really carries the stories for me though are the characters and their development. The inner life of Cooper is mesmerizing, and I'm absolutely in love with his character, though I am generally a great fan of snarky characters with deeper inner struggles and hearts of gold, so I might be biased. Oliver Park is...well who wouldn't like an Oliver Park...hmm..cough cough... And together they are perfect.
I have to admit, I had to get used to Erik Bloomquist's voice. At first it just felt like someone reading words in a matter of fact kind of way, but quickly it turned to be one of my favourites, and now it couldn't be any other way.
I can't recommend this series enough, but I should probably stop my yammering, before I really get into it ;)

I really enjoyed this. It had a pretty good mystery (well they sort of gave away the murderer with a very classic line but I thought that it was well done how the characters themselves slowly solved the case), and had really nice fleshed out characters. We are so stuck in Cooper's head that we also doubt all we know even if the clues are right there in front of us. The chemistry between the main couple was sizzling hahaha. The attachment was pretty fast but well tense situation and I'm just assuming there's a reason that will be further explored in the future books. Excited to read the next one!

The story is a 10/10 but the narrator is... Being kind, far less than that. The rhythm and intonation when he read scenes with sex and intimacy were the same in which he read crime scenes. Most of the characters sounded alike and the intonation didn't really separate any of them. If you have the ebook, I will say go for it. Still, the story is good enough that the awkward reading didn't fully detract me from it.

It was okey-ish. Not great, not terrible. The narrator wasnt that good, his voice was kind of bored And uniterested. A little shame for the story.

Really good plot, it kept at the edge of my seat and the romance/chemistry was great. I am hooked with this series now!

The POV main character takes some time to warm up to. A portrait of how being surrounded by toxicity can warp a person so who they are becomes buried by their surroundings.

I'm always a sucker for werewolves and this was really good!

At the beginning of this, I wasn't sold on this story. I found Cooper to be a very frustrating character and I really wasn't enjoying him. However, once he started to warm up to Park, I began to like this story so much more. Park is the werewolf character and I really enjoyed him. The werewolf angle of this was my favorite part and I hope we continue to learn more about Park and his family and how werewolf society works in the next books.

The mystery in this was fine. I liked the romance thread a lot more but the mystery did drive the plot well and helped us learn more about the world and how all the characters ended up in this situation. The things I liked about the mystery is how it brought Cooper and Park together. I absolutely adored the scenes of them together in the latter half of the book. They work so well together! I sometimes have a hard time enjoying romance series because I get frustrated reading about a couple getting together but knowing something is going to keep them apart in the next book. With this couple, I am excited that this is a series because I want to read more about Cooper and Park! They really were the most important part of this book for me and I loved reading about them.

I will definitely be continuing this series. As I said in my previous review, I already have my reading planned for June but as soon as I have time I will be picking up book two!

Paranormal m/m romance; the fantasy element is that the FBI cares a lot about whether suspects are wrongly charged or abused. I kid! The other fantasy element is that werewolves are real, and came out to governments but not to the general public (and this didn’t leak, somehow), and now the FBI has a special unit to deal with werewolf crimes. After bad bias incidents, they start partnering FBI (BSI) agents with wolf representatives. The first partnership is between Cooper, an agent who has lingering health issues from a wolf attack—which is how he found out about werewolves—and Park, a strong, silent type who Cooper can’t help finding overwhelmingly attractive. If you like “one babbles and the other is a clam,” this might work for you.

As is a norm for me…I read the #4 book before the #1 book…IT WASN”T MY FAULT!!! Book #4 was in my box from my friends who didn’t realize it was a series until I threatened them with great bodily harm unless they found the rest of them. I now have book #1…thank you Connor and Luke! If I hadn’t read book #4 first I probably wouldn’t have ever picked the series up on my own as I’m not a fan of werewolves or vampires. I can truthfully say that I am now a big fan of this werewolf :) The books can be easily described. They are great adventure…thriller… mystery stories with m/m romance as a parallel storyline. The main characters are estranged from their families to varying degrees, and the murder victims are not mourned much nor missed by anyone. Loneliness is a constant theme echoing throughout...showing how you can choose it at some point in life and then get stuck in it. Conner is so completely likable and constantly makes funny remarks about his view on life and almost everything else. Park is hot…for lack of a better word… but we don't know much about what makes him tick or how he thinks. So far he hasn’t eaten anyone and that’s a good thing. I have book 2 and waiting on book #3 & #5. Hope they find their way here soon.
