About this audiobook
Everyone wants new followers…until they follow you home.
Audrey Miller has an enviable new job at the Smithsonian, a body by Pilates, an apartment door with a broken lock, and hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers to bear witness to it all. Having just moved to Washington, DC, Audrey busies herself with impressing her new boss, interacting with her online fan base, and staving off a creepy upstairs neighbor with the help of the only two people she knows in town: an ex-boyfriend she can’t stay away from, and a sorority sister with a high-powered job and a mysterious past.
But Audrey’s faulty door may be the least of her security concerns. Unbeknownst to her, her move has brought her within striking distance of someone who has obsessively followed her social media presence for years—from her first WordPress blog to her most recent Instagram Story. No longer content to simply follow her carefully curated life from a distance, he consults the dark web for advice on how to make Audrey his and his alone. In his quest to win her heart, nothing is off-limits—and nothing is private.
Kathleen Barber’s new novel of suspense, hailed as “gripping, chilling” by Robyn Harding, author of The Perfect Family, is an electrifying new thriller that will have you scrambling to cover your webcam and digital footprints.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This story is told from three points of view, Audrey the Instagram influencer, Cat the lawyer, and "Him" the stalker. Going in I expected Audrey to be vapid and annoying and although I found her dangerously blase about posting her entire life online I don't think she was unrealistic. Oversharing seems to be the norm now. I actually didn't mind her maybe because I could relate to her dream of working in a museum and she wasn't as annoying as I had expected. Her straight laced and timid friend Cat was more practical but there were hints that she was hiding something. The sections from the view of "Him" were dull and repetitive. To be fair I have read several books that include the first person voice of obsessive stalkers and I rarely am entertained by them. Joe from "You" was one of the few exceptions. "Him" had none of the humour or charm of Joe and I thought he was rather flat and one dimensional. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the characters I was mostly into the story until the last twist where it lost me. If you had asked me early on what was going to happen I would have guessed pretty well what did happen. It did not surprise me at all and I was disappointed that it turned out to be so completely predictable
The narration was very good. The story worked well in audio.4 people found this helpful
