About this audiobook
Bored and fed up with life, staring down a fiftieth birthday, Mike Tyler was looking for a change. Life had become routinized and unexciting. Maybe it was a mid-life crisis, or maybe just a yearning for one last big adventure. Mike decides to try hiking from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail, just to see what happens.
Mike convinces his wife, Margo, to join him. Together they embark on a five-month hike full of anticipation. They hike through some of the most stunning and remote places in the country on a trail full of unique, offbeat characters. But the trail had even more to offer than either of them had anticipated.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narration is insufferable. The writing is simplistic, so simple that I don’t think I can finish this
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ok story, some decent looks into trail life. However, I can’t decide what I liked less - the writer’s resistance to using words more than 2 syllables or the reader’s emphasis on every word. It is intended to be a Walden-like adventure, but it reads like a children’s book. I gave it 3 stars. It’s no AWOL, but it’s a trail book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is an interesting take on thru hiking. I had not read about a couple’s adventure only single people hiking a trail. The narrator is dry, I would have liked to heard the author’s voice.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The reading was stilted and the narrative was unimaginative. Thumbs down on this one.
